The Parapsychological Association

Jeffrey Mishlove describes a series of research studies in parapsychology that demonstrate causal influences from the future upon both human physiology and behavior. This work has now been widely replicated. Meta-analyses show that the combined results greatly exceed chance expectation. As is generally true of parapsychology, the studies employed rigorous methodologies.

Jeffrey Mishlove shares his excitement about new ideas for a science of consciousness developed by his former professor, Dr. Charles Tart, and presented recently in a lecture to the Parapsychological Association. One suggestion is that remote viewing could be systematically applied to the direct observation of the inner conscious experience of another individual. Another suggestion calls for the rigorous exploration of locales described by Robert Monroe, author of Journeys Out of the Body.

Jeffrey Mishlove describes some informal tests he performed involving modification of cloud formations. He presents this in the context of his original research on "the PK man" Ted Owens. He also links to YouTube demonstrations of ostensible PK weather control by Michael Grubb. And, he shares information about a study proposed by a student of atmospheric science, Dani Caputi.
 

James G. Matlock, PhD, an anthropologist, is coauthor (with Erlendur Haraldsson) of I Saw a Light and Came Here: Children's Experiences of Reincarnation. He is a regular contributor to the online Psi Encyclopedia sponsored by the Society for Psychical Research in London. He has authored dozens of academic papers concerning reincarnation and related areas.

Here he suggests that the available case history data on reincarnation does not support the popular notion of "karma". The case history data does, however, support the sanskrit notion of "samskaras" or the continuation of psychological tendencies. Matlock suggests that this is "dispositional karma". He provides a number of interesting examples.

Marjorie Woollacott, PhD, is emeritus professor of Neuroscience and Human Physiology at the University of Oregon. She is coauthor of the textbook, Motor Control: Translating Research Into Clinical Practice. She is author of Infinite Awareness: The Awakening of a Scientific Mind.

Here she describes a range of theoretical developments in the field of neuroscience relating to how the mind influences the brain. She cites the theories of Nobel laureates Roger Sperry and Sir John Eccles. She also describes in some detail how quantum mechanical fluctuations could influence consciousness. She notes that this research and theoretical work is consistent with the view of consciousness developed within Kashmir Shaivism.

Vernon Neppe, MD, PhD, FRSSAf, refers to himself as a Dimensional Biopsychophysicist. He is a neuropsychiatrist and head of the Pacific Neuropsychiatric Institute in Seattle. He is author, with physicist Edward Close, of Reality Begins with Consciousness: A Paradigm Shift that Works. He is also author of Déjà Vu Revisited, Déjà Vu: A Second Look, Déjà Vu: Glossary and Library, Cry the Beloved Mind: A Voyage of Hope, and Innovative Psychopharmacotherapy. Here, he describes how the mystical Hebrew Kabbalah bears an uncanny resemblance to the metaparadigm he has developed with his partner, physicist Edward R. Close. He notes that both approaches suggest a mathematical structure underlying the known universe. Both approaches contain dimensions of consciousness. Both address the relationship between the finite and the infinite.

Here he reviews our knowledge of reincarnation beliefs among the ancient Aryans, Hindus, Buddhists, Greeks, Romans, Jews, and early Christians. He notes that each of these cultures had contact with primitive, tribal peoples who based their reincarnation beliefs upon the sort of psychophysical signs that are observed today. Eventually each of these cultures elaborated their reincarnation beliefs.

She describes the research protocols in some detail and explains why she regards the work in these fields to be exemplary of good science.

He is a past vice-president of the Association for Humanistic Psychology; and is the recipient of the Pathfinder Award from that Association for his contributions to the field of human consciousness exploration.

Here he points out that tribal beliefs concerning reincarnation can be found among indigenous people throughout the world. Furthermore, these beliefs typically include knowledge of the very same signs of reincarnation that researchers have found in case studies of children who remember past lives. Tribal beliefs regarding kinship patterns seem to influence the verifiable cases of past-life memory found within tribal groups, reinforcing the notion that individuals, based on their beliefs, can exert a measure of control over the reincarnation process.
