The Parapsychological Association and the Society for Scientific Exploration join together once again this year for an online conference on June 23rd to 26th. The online format allows scientists from around the world to attend and present their work. The theme for this year’s conference is:

Breakthrough: New Ideas in Research and Theory

There have been a number of recent developments in parapsychology and anomalistic science which have brought greater acceptance and recognition of our science by the general public and have expanded the boundaries of what our science has to offer. For SSE-PA Breakthrough 2022, we encourage you to submit your breakthrough research discoveries and theoretical perspectives.

Appropriate submissions for the conference will have an empirical or systematic focus in the form of research studies, investigative experiential reports, robust critical evaluations of existing literature or research, or theoretical foundations for anomalous experiences and psi phenomena. Panel proposals for specific topics as well as suggestions for potential panel members are also welcome. We will embrace a wide range of topics including, but not limited to, anomalous experiences, remote viewing, subtle energies of the body, intentional and unconscious effects on objects and electronics, unusual encounters, new technologies, and explorations into the nature of consciousness.

We are now accepting submissions in the form of long abstracts, from 500 to 1200 words in length for regular Submissions, and from 300 to 500 words for Brief Video Presentations (BVP). Both types of Submissions should be MS-Word compatible documents using the MS-Word template provided at this link.

Submissions are due April 15, 2022 at 11:59pm Eastern US Time. We welcome all submissions.

What is a Regular Submission?

Regular submissions are submissions for talks that will be scheduled during the conference. All regular submissions will be 10, 20, or 30 minutes long, not including Q&A. Regular submissions should include abstracts that are between 500-1200 words and provide enough information to describe the presentation for evaluation by the program committee. Every presentation that is accepted will be recorded before the conference, and when submitting your abstract, you will be asked to agree to record a video and sign a release for the recording.

What is a Brief Video Presentation?

We anticipate that there will be more submissions than we can schedule at the conference, but we want to acknowledge the amazing work that is being done in the field. To provide additional opportunities for brief presentations or presentations that cannot be included in the main conference schedule, we are providing the opportunity for the submission of Brief Video Presentations.

Brief Video Presentations (BVPs) are 3-5 minute videos that will be available on the conference platform/website, but they will not be scheduled for a live event. Conference attendees will be able to explore the BVPs and watch the videos at their convenience.

BVPs submissions will include an abstract that is 300-500 words, and if your BVP is accepted, you will be contacted with information on how to best record your own 3-5 minute video for the conference. BVP presenters will be listed with all other presenters, but BVP listings will include a brief description of the presentation and may include an image (like a poster) or a short, one page PDF file that provides additional information for the viewers.

BVP presenters will have the opportunity to schedule their own sessions in the conference to discuss their research with attendees, and though these sessions will be listed in the forums on the conference site, these self-scheduled sessions will not be on the main conference schedule. We value the BVP presentations and would encourage you to choose this option for a brief video.

Status Notification

Notification of your proposal status will be sent by May 24, 2022. The presenting author is expected to register for the conference by June 5, 2022. If accepted, you may be required to record your presentation in advance to avoid any technical issues during the conference.
