The winner of the PA’s 2021 Outstanding Mentorship Award is Dr. Stanley Krippner. This award honors a PA member whose mentorship activities have advanced the discipline of parapsychology. Dr. Krippner has a reputation of being generous with his advice, willing to engage research and give feedback at every level.

Dr. Krippner is an Associated Distinguished Professor at the California Institute of Integral Studies. Formerly, he was director of the Maimonides Medical Center Dream Research Laboratory, in Brooklyn, New York, and (earlier) the director of the Kent State University Child Center in Kent, Ohio. He also served as the President of the Parapsychological Association in 1983.

He has authored or co-authored over 1,000 books, monographs, and articles on such topics as anomalous dreams, post-traumatic stress disorder, shamanism, hypnosis, creativity, and psychedelics, including the award-winning Personal Mythology, and the APA published Varieties of Anomalous Experience: Examining the Scientific Evidence (APA, 2000, 2014). He was also editor-in-chief of ten volumes of Advances in Parapsychological Research (McFarland, 1977-2021). A full bibliography can be viewed here.

The Outstanding Mentorship Award was created to acknowledge the efforts of PA members to remedy the great disparities in the availability of career resources for students of parapsychology worldwide. In service to the PA’s international mission to promote scholarship and scientific inquiry into currently unexplained aspects of human experience, the recently-established PA Mentorship Program connects professionals and college/university students around the globe.
