The Interval Between Death and Rebirth with James G. Matlock

James G. Matlock, PhD, an anthropologist, is coauthor (with Erlendur Haraldsson) of I Saw a Light and Came Here: Children's Experiences of Reincarnation. He is a regular contributor to the online Psi Encyclopedia sponsored by the Society for Psychical Research in London. He has authored dozens of academic papers concerning reincarnation and related areas.

Here he presents some of his own original research examining published reincarnation cases in which children were able to remember identifiable past lives -- and also recall the intermission period between lives. He notes that, on occasion, these memories contained veridical elements. He also found that there were distinct differences among eastern and western cultures. Reports from near-death experiences seem consistent with those of reincarnation cases.

InPresence 0023: William James' Radical Empiricism

Jeffrey Mishlove describes the culminating work of William James' illustrious career. His five essays on radical empiricism were published posthumously. James was thoroughly a product of the nineteenth century era of American industrialism. However, he rebelled against the mechanistic thinking of his age. His work on radical empiricism represents an effort to integrate his interest in mysticism and psychical research with western philosophy.

InPresence 0019: Divination with Jeffrey Mishlove

Jeffrey Mishlove discusses several different forms of divination including crystal gazing, tarot, astrology, and the I Ching. He notes that each of them offer opportunities to tap into the subconscious mind and to liberate psi-related information. While encouraging viewers to experiment with divination, he offers a number of cautions. In particular, he emphasizes the need to maintain a healthy, positive attitude toward oneself.

InPresence 0017: The Human Aura with Jeffrey Mishlove

Jeffrey Mishlove points out that descriptions of the human aura were popularized by the Theosophical Society during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Various images are shown. Jeffrey compares descriptions of the aura with those of the human biofield and shows that they are somewhat different. He then discusses a psychological phenomenon known as synesthesia and discusses its potential relationship to psychic functioning.

InPresence 0016: Psychokinesis with Jeffrey Mishlove

Jeffrey Mishlove provides a link to 17 video conversations with original contributors to the study of psychokinesis. He notes the controversies and fears concerning PK. He illustrates these points with stories from his research with Ted Owens, the PK Man. And, he draws a moral from these experiences -- that we should treat all other people with respect at all times.

InPresence 0014: Fear of Psi with Jeffrey Mishlove

InPresence host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in "parapsychology" ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). For many years he served as president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people were supported and encouraged in developing inner intuitive abilities.

Here he suggests that one important reason why people unconsciously block their psi ability is fear. He lists a number of such fears including fear of social ostracism, fear of being thought insane, and fear of going insane. He discusses the work of Wilson Van Dusen, a psychologist who felt that people suffering from psychoses were being invaded by negative spirits. He suggests that people who wish to cultivate psi ability need to acknowledge and process such fears.

InPresence 0013: Practical Applications of Psi with Jeffrey Mishlove

InPresence host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in "parapsychology" ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). For many years he served as president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people were supported and encouraged in developing inner intuitive abilities.

Here he discusses five different areas where parapsychologists have shown real practical applications. These include distant healing, psychic archeology, criminology, national security, and financial forecasting. In each of these areas Jeffrey has created video conversations with original contributors. He provides a hot link to a list of these particular videos.

Birthmarks and Physical Signs of Reincarnation with James G. Matlock

Here he discusses the role of birthmarks, birth defects, facial resemblance, and the propensity for particular illnesses as they appear in cases suggestive of reincarnation. Most of this analysis is of a post-hoc nature. However, of particular interest, are cases in which a prediction is made concerning factors to look for in identifying a reincarnated person. These cases are sometimes hard for people to assimilate, as they seem to involve macro-psychokinesis.

InPresence 0009: The Roots of Consciousness with Jeffrey Mishlove

InPresence host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in "parapsychology" ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). For many years he served as president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people were supported and encouraged in developing inner intuitive abilities.

Here he describes how he came to write his first book, The Roots of Consciousness. The book is an overview of the field of consciousness studies and parapsychology and was originally intended to show to his doctoral committee at U.C., Berkeley, that he had the prerequisite knowledge to write a parapsychological dissertation. The book also contained important ideas concerning the possible role of Bell's Theorem in understanding psychic functioning. At the end of the video is a hot link to a free, online version of the 2nd edition of the book.

InPresence 0008: My Hero William James with Jeffrey Mishlove

InPresence host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in "parapsychology" ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). For many years he served as president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people were supported and encouraged in developing inner intuitive abilities.

Here he shares his fascination for and resonance with William James. James is widely regarded as the father of both American psychology and religious studies. Additionally he is regarded as a major philosopher and one of the founders of the American school of pragmatic philosophy. Furthermore, he was deeply engaged in psychical research and the quest to understand the possibility of survival after death. James overcame both depression and illness to achieve greatness.
